Rotunda
Room
The Rotunda Room is
the first stop after leaving the human-made tunnel system. Looking to
the right you can see where Randy Tufts and Gary Tenen scrambled up to
reach the Throne Room.
Moving down the trail
the mud flats come into view. This area is critiacal to the cave as it
is the source of the moisture that keeps the cave "alive." During
times of high participation in the mountains above the Mud Flats can actually
become an underground river.
Looking closely at
the Mudd Flats the footsteps of the original explorers come into view.
They were careful to always use the same path as to not disturb the environment
any more than was necessary. The initial trip through this area was difficult
as they sunk waist deep into the mud.
Lights from behind
the original pathway reveal water droplets shimmering on thousands of
formations called Soda Straws.
