Imaginary Passage
When planning the
Cavern's trail system an initial difficulty was moving from the Rotunda
Room to the Throne Room. The path Randy Tufts and Gary Tenen used was
steep and difficult, making it inappropriate for developing a barrier-free
trail for the tour.
In exploring other
options the planners came across a potential alternative. They approached
the engineers with the idea about opening another passage way and received
the response "only in your imagination."
Despite the initial
reaction, the engineers found a way to connect the two rooms with an accessible
trail and it was named the Imaginary Passage. The efforts were worth it,
as the new passage provided access to a variety of beautiful formations.
