More than 8,000 guests have registered for Monday’s inaugural Arizona PBS KIDS Festival, a family-oriented celebration featuring favorite characters from PBS KIDS programs and interactive activities for children.
The Arizona PBS KIDS Festival will include appearances by the Cat in the Hat, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George and Daniel Tiger, among others. The free festival is scheduled for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Arizona PBS is hosting the festival to celebrate the launch of its all-new children’s channel Arizona PBS KIDS, which debuts on Monday. The 24/7 channel will feature an array of popular PBS KIDS programming to help young children master important skills, ranging from reading and basic math and science to problem solving and emotional skills.
Families will have the chance to explore the state-of-the-art facility that houses Arizona PBS and Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
In addition to character meet and greets, the Arizona PBS KIDS Festival will include arts and crafts, complimentary snacks and light refreshments and screenings of “Arthur,” “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” “Odd Squad,” “Ready Jet Go” and “Splash and Bubbles.”
Children also will have the chance have fun with broadcasting technologies such as green screen video with Daniel Tiger. They also will be able to take photos with Daniel Tiger and Ollie the Trolley outside of Arizona PBS.
