IL VOLO TAKES FLIGHT
Italian heartthrobs Il Volo — Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble — have been receiving unanimous raves for their vocal talent and showmanship. Since their May 2011 debut in the U.S., the three Teenage Tenors have appeared on “American Idol,” “The Tonight Show,” “Ellen,” “The Today Show” and “Good Morning America,” among others, and their single, “O Solo Mio,” has been viewed by more than a million fans on YouTube. Already certified platinum in their homeland, Italy, and several other countries, they have captured the hearts of Americans of all ages. Il Volo Takes Flight airs Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 7 p.m. on Eight, Arizona PBS. Il Volo may be young, but the mission is clear: “We want to share our love for this music with people all over the world, including kids our own age.” Il Volo Takes Flight is just the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting adventure for Gianluca (who hails from Abruzzo), Ignazio (born in Bologna) and Piero (from Agrigento, Sicily). After their debut on the Italian hit TV show, “Ti Lascio Una Canzone” (“Leaving You a Song”), Universal Music Group released Il Volo’s self-titled debut album in Italy in November 2010 and worldwide in June 2011. The album is already certified gold and on its way to platinum status in their home country.
