About KAET/Channel 8
KAET, a part of Arizona State University, has been bringing viewers quality
programming for more than 40 years. With more than 1.7 million people
watching the station each week, KAET frequently ranks among the most-viewed
public television stations per capita in the country. A trusted community
resource, KAET enriches the lives of Arizonans through quality programs
and educational services that inform, inspire and entertain.
More than 450,000 children tune in to our kids' programming each week.
And from the couch to the classroom, our educational services reach beyond
the television set. Through workshops and book distribution, KAET's "Ready
to Learn" service has helped more than 13,000 children begin school
ready to learn. This year more than 405,000 students were helped by KAET
in partnership with ASSET (Arizona School Services through Educational
Technology,) and 25,000 teachers utilized ASSET's resources. Our GED programs
help adults get their high school diplomas, and many students earn college
credits through Arizona State University telecourses.
In addition to airing programs distributed nationally by PBS, KAET produces
its own award-winning programs. Especially noteworthy are HORIZON,
an acclaimed nightly public affairs program, and the Arizona Collection,
a continuing series of programs celebrating the people, places and history
of Arizona. KAET's latest weekly series, HORIZONTE,
offers a look at Arizona issues through a Hispanic lens.
Monumental Arizona is the newest addition to KAET's
Arizona Collection, which also includes the Arizona Memories
series, Ranch Album, Kolb
Brothers: Grand Canyon Pioneers, and the Emmy Award-winning Barry
Goldwater: Photographs & Memories, Thieves of Time, Images
of Arizona, Southwest
Symphony, Over Arizona and Legends
& Dreamers: Inspired by Arizona Highways.
Monumental Arizona was made possible by the Kemper and Ethel Marley
Foundation and by the KAET Program Partners, Friends of Channel 8 who
provide additional gifts for programs about the Arizona experience.
