A KAET-TV PRODUCTION
To understand the people and stories that define Arizona, Channel
8 turned to the pages of Arizona Highways magazine. Legends
& Dreamers Inspired by Arizona Highways, a KAET production,
vividly brings the magazine's pages to life, combining rich storytelling
with stunning photography. Viewers will experience the sights and sounds,
the mood of the people and Arizona's remote areas as well as familiar
locations seen from a new perspective.
Kingman's Dr. Ken Jackson was a respected citizen, husband and
father, but he felt something was missing from his life. So he
planned a great escape: a one-month journey on horseback across
Arizona. In the course of this rigorous adventure he discovered
the hidden glories of Arizona and rediscovered himself.
As a teenager, Jerry Jacka dreamed of getting just
one photograph published in Arizona Highways. Over the
years, he has created more than 50,000 images and become one of
the magazine's most prolific photographers. KAET's camera crew
followed Jacka on location to some of his favorite spots in northern
Arizona to learn how he works and what inspires him.
A ride on the San Pedro & Southwestern Railroad becomes a
journey through time. The trip along the San Pedro River from
Benson to Charleston evokes memories of the era of the gunman
and the showdown between the Earps and the Clantons at the O.K.
Corral.
Pleasant Valley is a little piece of paradise 80 miles
north of Phoenix, hemmed in by the Sierra Anchas, high grasslands
and the Sonoran Desert. In Young, a picture-postcard town of
about 800 accessible only by dirt road, storyteller Marshall Trimble
hears about the bloody feud between the Grahams and the Tewksburys.
Legends & Dreamers Inspired by Arizona Highways is
