Christopher Callahan is responsible for driving the strategic direction of one of the nation's most-watched PBS stations as CEO of Arizona PBS. Callahan also is the founding dean of Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, leading a 150-member faculty and staff and 1,700 students. He also serves as vice provost of the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus. Under his leadership, the Cronkite School has transformed into a national journalism leader known for its focus on multimedia journalism, innovation and entrepreneurship, intensive professional experiences and partnerships with news outlets. Cronkite News, the news division of Arizona PBS, has become a leader in providing news content to local, regional and national news audiences through a series of innovative programs. Previously, Callahan was a Washington correspondent for The Associated Press. He is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the author of “A Journalist’s Guide to the Internet.”

Mary Mazur is an award-winning television executive who joined Arizona PBS in 2017. In her role as general manager, Mazur leads more than 65 full-time employees, guiding program development, production, community engagement, strategic partnerships, marketing and philanthropy. Prior to joining Arizona PBS, Mazur was executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Los Angeles-based KCETLink Media Group. There, she oversaw KCET’s move to a new state-of-the-art facility and served as executive producer of a variety of nationally distributed programs. Under her direction as chief content officer for KCET, the station received more than 380 awards for programming, including four George Foster Peabody Awards and three Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards; Mazur herself is the recipient of two Peabody Awards, a duPont Award and a regional Emmy Award. Prior to joining KCETLink Media Group, Mazur was senior vice president of series development at Cosgrove/Meurer Productions, and prior to that served in a similar role at Patchett Kaufman Entertainment. A graduate of Santa Clara University, Mazur also has worked in program development for both the NBC and CBS networks.

Nancy Southgate has been the associate general manager of content for Arizona PBS since 2008 after joining the station as program director in February 2006. During her tenure, Arizona PBS has consistently ranked as one of the most-watched public television stations in the country. Prior to joining Arizona PBS, she worked for WPBA in Atlanta where she was vice president and station manager in charge of program scheduling, productions, promotion and traffic. A graduate of the University of Georgia, she has spent more than 27 years in public television including work for the Kevin Harris Group, a national programming and management consulting firm, and as operations manager for Georgia Public Broadcasting. She is a graduate of PBS’ 2008 Leadership Development Program and a winner of seven Rocky Mountain Southwest Emmy Awards for Arizona Memories from the ’70s, Arizona Stories, The Latest Procedure and Check, Please! Arizona. She has served on PBS’ Communication Advisory Committee and on the board of the Public Television Programmers’ Association.

Mark Lodato works to establish new strategies for integration, engagement and collaboration between Arizona PBS and the Cronkite School in his role as associate general manager for innovation and design. Lodato also serves as assistant dean of the Cronkite School, supervising the broadcast and sports curriculum. His duties also include working with the leadership team on recruitment strategies, establishing new media partnerships and development. He is the recipient of the 2014 ASU Faculty Achievement Award for Excellence in Curricular Innovation and a member of the Scripps Howard Academic Leadership Academy class of 2013. His journalism career includes more than 16 years as a television reporter in Washington, D.C., Arizona and Florida. Lodato holds a master’s in higher education administration from ASU and bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Missouri.

Kimberly Flack has served as associate general manager for educational outreach at Arizona PBS since 2010. Prior to that, she was associate director for educational outreach, after joining the station in 2001 as an instructional specialist coordinator on the professional development team remotely located in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her work has focused on embedding PBS digital resources in community-based professional development and standards-based workshops; and on instructional design and online course curriculum creation for pre-service and in-service K-12 educators. As part of Arizona PBS Educational Outreach, she has been awarded numerous state and federal grants, and she serves on the national PBS KIDS Leadership Committee. A graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Master of Arts in English magna cum laude and a Bachelor of Science in history and special education with honors, Flack taught for the Flagstaff Unified School District for 10 years. She holds current Arizona teaching certification in K-12 special education, English, history and endorsements in English as a second language.

Ian MacSpadden brings to Arizona PBS more than 25 years working for local, national and international news and broadcast organizations, including ABC News, NBC Universal and Reuters. He joined Arizona PBS in 2015 as director of broadcast operations, overseeing all station technical operations, including planning, installation operation and maintenance of broadcast systems. He and the engineering staff ensure proper operation of the station’s studios and master control, as well as the main transmitter and seven translators throughout the state. Previously, MacSpadden was the lead for the engineering teams that built production facilities for YouTube and Meredith Corp. A change management and efficiency professional, he assisted numerous media companies and organizations with their migrations from SD to HD while also implementing file-based workflows and creating products for multi-platform distribution. MacSpadden is experienced both in the field and the facility, having been the engineer in charge (EIC) for major events, including the Oscars, the Super Bowl, several G8 summits and national political conventions. Writing about the industry for TV Technology magazine for the past eight years keeps him current and in touch with all facets of the broadcast technology business.

Robert F. Smith brings Arizona PBS more than 25 years of finance, accounting and operations management experience. Smith joined the Arizona PBS team in 2015 after working in the news/media industry at both local and national levels with companies such as Gannett, Media News Group and Tower Media. In his current role, he is responsible for business plan development, financial forecasting and analysis, competitive analysis and benchmarking. In previous roles he has lead financial teams through software implementation and transitions, organization acquisition and sales. His focus has been with organic staff reengineering and procedures to improve financial efficiencies organizationally. Smith relocated to Arizona from California, where he received his undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge in business administration with an option in accounting and minor in economics. He later received his Master of Business Administration from ASU.
Central Sound at Arizona PBS

Alex Kosiorek has been manager of the audio-media production service Central Sound at Arizona PBS since 2012. Kosiorek oversees recording productions, end-to-end management of production facilities, design team coordination and close affiliation with dozens of recognized arts institutions. Previously, Kosiorek served as Director of Recording Services at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he oversaw the modernization of the department, to include completing the first THX PM3-certified studio in a music conservatory worldwide and becoming the first conservatory to launch multi-platform mobile applications. Kosiorek also served as audio recording and mastering engineer for the Corbett Studio at Cincinnati Public Radio, where he was instrumental in creating the first U.S. radio station to initiate surround programming. Early career highlights include engineering for the former Radio Smithsonian, working on the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and his designation as the first Audio Engineer Fellow for the New World Symphony, recording the symphony’s European tour in the great halls of Europe. Kosiorek earned his degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, with supplemental graduate education from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and Bowling Green State University.

Mike Maggio joined Arizona PBS in 2012 as the direct marketing manager responsible for direct mail, canvassing and telemarketing. In his current role as membership manager, he manages a portfolio of marketing channels to engage, build and strengthen the relationship between Arizona PBS and its 50,000 members and 1 million-plus viewers. He oversees the membership database and is responsible for membership/fundraising analytics and reporting. Previously, Maggio was the marketing database manager for Gannett, where he managed their data driven direct marketing for multiple advertisers and campaigns while facilitating two software conversions. He is a native of Arizona and brings more than 20 years of direct marketing and database marketing experience in the media industry to Arizona PBS.

Henry Brodersen has been the executive producer of Membership Services for Arizona PBS since 2005 after joining the station as executive producer of on-air promotions in February 1996. During his time at Arizona PBS, he has led the station through its annual fundraising campaigns, launched its sustainer program, and helped guide the station through multiple image, on-air and development campaigns. Prior to joining Arizona PBS, Henry worked for MPT in Baltimore, where he was the on-air promotions producer, and an associate producer of local content. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he has more than 26 years of public television experience. Since 2014, he has served as a Pledge Academy Master Teacher within the PBS system, sharing his extensive knowledge of fundraising on a national level with peers. He has produced national pledge events for PBS, including shows featuring Eric Clapton, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Kingston Trio and Andre Rieu and has been a featured speaker at national fundraising and marketing conferences.

Joe Giordano leads marketing and communications for Arizona PBS and the Cronkite School. He is charged with overseeing digital and print communications, which includes Arizona PBS Magazine as well as websites and social media for the two organizations. Prior to joining Arizona PBS and the Cronkite School, Giordano served as a newspaper reporter and copy editor in Ohio. He also has worked at public relations and marketing agencies in Denver and Phoenix. He earned his master’s degree from Colorado State University and his bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Ohio.
