Saturday, March 31 wasn’t just the last day in March for 27 Arizona students.
It was game day.
It was the day of the Arizona Spelling Bee.

With dictionaries and Spell It (the official booklet for spelling bees) in hand, the best spellers in grades 4 through 8 set out that morning to meet, and compete, with their competition. After winning contests in their class, their school, the district and county it came down to one exciting day.

Most climbed into the family car with parents, siblings, grandparents and friends along for support.
