School of Earth and Space Exploration

· The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) launches in the fall of 2008

The research projects scheduled for Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) reach around the globe, deep beneath the Earth’s surface and into outer space. In July 2006, ASU launched the new college dedicated to expanding the frontiers of knowledge through the exploration of Earth, space, matter, time and life.

According to Director Kip Hodges, Ph.D., the SESE community looks to the expeditions of Meriweather Lewis and William Clark for their inspiration. “We like to think of ourselves as a ‘Corps of Discovery’ for the 21st Century,” said Hodges.

In this edition of ASU Spotlight: School of Earth and Space Exploration, our reporters follow the scientists into the field for a closer look at the latest insights. An Eight/KAET production, ASU Spotlight: Earth and Space Exploration airs Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. on Eight/KAET.
