    • This no-kill shelter describes itself as the largest domestic rabbit sanctuary in Arizona. At its Scottsdale location, volunteers focus on the physical and emotional well-being of the animals, with each rabbit receiving designated play time each day. Tranquility Trail is open seven days a week so that visitors can meet rabbits and learn how to properly care for them.

  • Arizona Artbeat: Ground Cover Public Art Project  |   Video
    • An ambitious idea from a Phoenix artist attracted hundreds of volunteers who turned a vacant lot into a textile garden of desert flowers. The creation was part of a public art project that not only attracted knitters, crocheters and quilters from across Arizona, the United States and Canada, but also helped hundreds of people in need. You’ll meet artist and project manager Ann Morton along with a volunteer and beneficiary of this unique project.

    • What started with one Arizona family looking to help one refugee family that resettled in Phoenix has grown into a nationally recognized non-profit organization. The “Welcome to America Project” provides donated household items for refugee families that are starting new lives in Arizona.     • A program matching business professionals with arts organizations needing skills-based consulting expertise will be relaunched by Arizona Citizens for the Arts during National Pro Bono Week. Business Volunteers for the Arts brings together business professionals with arts organizations looking to help build their capacity, improve their business practices and assist in growth and reach. Robin Hanson, a Business Volunteer for the Arts from Arizona Citizens for the Arts, will discuss the topic.

  • Focus on Sustainability: Phoenix Cool Roofs   |   Video
    • The city of Phoenix has started a project to paint 70,000 square feet of rooftops white to cut energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Over the next year, an army of volunteers will paint rooftops at community centers, fire stations and housing communities as part of a $100,000 service grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Cynthia Aguilar, of the Phoenix Manager's Office, will talk about the Cool Roofs project.

    • In late April, about 160 volunteers scoured the streets of Phoenix, Glendale and Mesa in search of the Valley’s homeless. It’s part of Project H3, a national effort to place the most medically vulnerable homeless people into homes. Learn more about the project from Mattie Lord, State Homeless Coordinator for the Arizona Department of Economic Security; Michael Shore, President and CEO of HOM, Inc.; and Brad Bridwell, the Homeless Veterans Coordinator for the Arizona Department of Veterans Services.
