 Video - The Arizona Cultural Data Project Task Force recently released a report that reveals the impact of Arizona’s arts and culture sector on the lives of Arizonans and the state’s economy. Jaime Dempsey, Deputy Director of the Arizona Commission on the Arts, will discuss the report, which will be released for the first time on Arizona Horizon.

February 11, 2013- Heroes and Superheroes in Culture | Video
- Project Humanities at Arizona State University will launch its spring kickoff series “Heroes, Superheroes, and Superhumans,” February 10-16 to examine what constitutes heroes and heroism in pop culture and everyday life. Tony Parker, a Marvel and DC Comic artist and professor of Art at Phoenix College, will discuss the series and the topic of heroes.

- The Sunnyslope Historical Society recently hosted "The Life and Times of Johnny Franklin", an exhibition of celebrity photographs taken by the late Johnny Franklin. Arizona music historian John Dixon shares Franklin’s photos of entertainment luminaries such Johnny Cash, Wanda Jackson, Fats Domino, the Grateful Dead and Phoenix’ own Wallace and Ladmo.

August 20, 2012- Megapolitan Impacts on Climate | Video
- Arizona State University, along with the National Center for Atmospheric Research, have conducted a first-of-its-kind study on the impacts of megapolitan areas on regional climate. The study found that the Sun Corridor, a megapolitan area running from Prescott to Nogales and expected to be home to nine million people by 2040, could raise temperatures by four degrees Celsius. Matei Georgescu, lead author and assistant professor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning in ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will talk about the study.

- Buzz
Buzz is more than just a TV show. It comprises television, an interactive Web site (www.azpbs.org/buzz) and uniquely Arizona educational materials that help teachers meet new Arizona arts standards. Discussions for the concept showcasing Arizonas emerging arts scene began more than a year ago, eventually involving more than 20 community organizations.
The pilot episode features work by three Valley artists Phoenix Symphony violist and director of Downtown Chamber Series Mark Dix who brings chamber music to new audiences at downtown art galleries; fashion and ASU Dance Department costume designer Galina Mihaleva designs for dancers, models, rock stars and nanotechnologists; and urban designer and Dean of the ASU College of Design Wellington Reiter who envisions a Phoenix Sky Harbor airport where planes, condos and pools might one day co-exist. The pilot also lets viewers know where they can see and hear the work of the featured artists as well as other artists in the same fields.
November 7, 2006- Alzheimer's Awareness
- November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month. It is marked by events around the Valley and the state including the opening of the new Banner Alzheimer's Institute. The Institute staffed by world-class researchers and physicians who provide compassionate care to patients and their families and caregivers, while also finding treatment and prevention therapies for those afflicted with the disease. Dr. Pierre Tariot, Banner Alzheimer's Institute's Associate Director and Director of its Memory Disorders Clinic joins Horizon in the studio.

Capturing the scale and beauty of the Grand Canyon has been a creative challenge for artists since the mid 1800s.
