August 23, 2006- New Voting Law
- A new law passed by the legislature this year will affect the upcoming elections. It will require a hand count of a portion of some races, will require equipment and personnel to be brought in if there's a long line at the polling place, and require a paper receipt for electronic voting. Joe Kanefield, elections director of the Secretary of State's office, and Karen Osborne of the Maricopa County Recorders office, will talk about the new law.
June 13, 2005- Water Fight
- secretary of the Interior Gale Norton has ruled that water from Lake Powell will flow into Lake Mead. That decision has upper basin states worried about drought, but lower basin states including Arizona, Nevada and California, are applauding the ruling. The Director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources, Herb Guenther, joins us to discuss the ruling's implications.
May 9, 2005- Possible military base closures
- Fewer U.S. military bases are likely to be affected by the new round of base realignment and closures. The list of affected bases is expected to be made public as early as tomorrow, but no later than a week from today. Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld says the percent of affected bases would be less than half the 25\% originally targeted. Producer Larry Lemmons tells us of the potential impact a base closure could have in the west valley.
