- More than 6 million people live in Arizona today, but according to state estimates that number will more than double by the year 2050. Participants in the 91st Arizona Town Hall met at the Grand Canyon in late October to recommend ways to plan for that growth while protecting our states views and values. Town Hall participants discuss some of their recommendations.

December 19, 2006- Transportation Acceleration
- Widening of the I-10 and I-17 freeways, speedier commutes on the loop 101 and improved mobility on the loop 303 could be a reality sooner than originally expected. Those are a few of the transportation acceleration projects recently approved by the Maricopa Association of Governments and the State Transportation Board. Legislation passed in the last session paved the way for the acceleration of construction or rebuilding of freeways, state highways, bridges and interchanges in the MAG Regional Transportation Plan. September 19, 2006- Proposition 105 and 106 - StateTrust Land
- The battle between preserving or developing State Trust is heading for a ballot showdown this November. Prop 105 comes from the Legislature, allows 400,000 acres to be saved and limits how the land can be used. It calls for preserving as much as 400,000 acres in state trust land, every acre or parcel of which would have to be approved by the Legislature. Prop 106 is a citizens initiative and would automatically preserve 259,000 acres and set aside an additional 358,000 acres that could be purchased by cities and set aside for conservation. The measure would also revamp the state agency with a board of trustees. If ballot measures are approved at the polls, the one with the most votes wins. Parts of the other plan could become law should the winning measure not have the same provision. We hear from supporters of both propositions.

- There are some new restrictions for airline passengers related to the terrorism plot uncovered on August 9. British law enforcement made multiple arrests on suspicion of plotting to blow up passenger planes. The alleged plan was to simultaneously blow up several aircraft heading to the United States using benign liquids to make an explosive. For that reason, the U.S. Government raised the nations threat level and is prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, gels, and lotions from being carried onto airplanes.
