- Megapolitan Impacts on Climate | Video
- Arizona State University, along with the National Center for Atmospheric Research, have conducted a first-of-its-kind study on the impacts of megapolitan areas on regional climate. The study found that the Sun Corridor, a megapolitan area running from Prescott to Nogales and expected to be home to nine million people by 2040, could raise temperatures by four degrees Celsius. Matei Georgescu, lead author and assistant professor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning in ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will talk about the study.

December 13, 2006- Innovation America
- The National Governors Association, chaired by Governor Janet Napolitano, announced a 17-member task force to guide the Innovation America initiative. The task force will discuss strategies, policies and programs centered around K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and the role of postsecondary education as an engine of innovation. Innovation America brings together a bipartisan group of governors and members of the academic and business communities to support private sector innovation and strengthen the competitive position of the United States in the global economy.

- HORIZON introduces one of the most prominent professors on the Arizona State University campus, Assistant Law Professor Orde Kittrie. A former U.S. Department of State Director of International Anti-Crime Programs, Orde Kittrie has worked on U.S.-Mexico border issues, the reform of Jordanian business law, and negotiated five nuclear nonproliferation agreements between the U.S. and Russia, among many other initiatives. His efforts are now being recognized across the country, including being named one of the top international legal experts in the U.S.
- Hot Weather
- We've had some unusual June weather that included several days above 110 degrees. National Weather Service Meteorologist Tony Haffer talks about the weather. Will Humble of the Arizona Department of Health Services will talk about staying safe in the heat.
- Native American Town Hall
- A Native American Town Hall was held this week in the Valley. Among the issues being discussed, the retention of Indian culture. Debra Utacia Krol, a reporter for the Fort McDowell newspaper, will tell us about the town hall.
May 8, 2006- Immunizations
- Last year our state experienced a whooping cough epidemic. This year there is an outbreak of mumps in the Midwest. The introduction of vaccines has helped to control these types of diseases. Now researchers are working on a vaccine for the avian flu virus. We talk about this and other topics related to immunization with Dr. Anne Schuchat, Captain, U.S. Public Health Service and Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions National Immunization Program.

April 3, 2006- Immigration Bill
- A bill has been approved by both the Arizona House and Senate that would make being an illegal immigrant a felony in Arizona. A similar federal bill has sparked massive protests across the country. The bill would also allow law enforcement to ask about immigration status and national origin when making arrests. Sponsors Senator Barbara Leff and Representative David Lujan will discuss the bill.
