  • NAFTA 20 Year Anniversary  |   Video
    • It’s been 20 years since the North American Free Trade Agreement was put into place. It was designed to eliminate investment and trade barriers between the United States, Mexico and Canada. An international conference will be held at Arizona State University in March regarding NAFTA. Jonathan Koppell, Dean of ASU’s College of Public Programs, will discuss how the trade agreement has impacted Arizona and the three countries it covers.

  • Around Arizona: USDA Rural Development Funding  |   Video
    • At the end of the last federal fiscal year, USDA Rural Development in Arizona reported a record $474 million in investment in housing funding for Arizona. That brought the five-year total to over $2 billion. Besides the housing funding, money was spent on tribes, towns, school districts, community centers, food banks, colleges, hospitals and small businesses. USDA Rural Development in Arizona State Director Alan Stephens will discuss how the funding has impacted the state.

    • A new report is out on improvements made in West Phoenix. The West Phoenix Revitalization Area 2012 Annual Report shows a reduction in property and violent crimes and a $12-million investment in foreclosed properties. The company has emerged from Chapter 11 and is now selling off assets to try to recoup money for investors. We’ll hear from former Arizona Land Commissioner Mark Winkleman who has been hired to oversee that process. And we’ll go inside two premier properties: the Centerpoint Towers in downtown Tempe and the Chateaux on Central brownstones in central Phoenix, which were recently sold to a company that plans to put them on the market by the end of the year.
