Video - A bill being tied into the new “Common Core” education standards is facing strong criticism from those who see it as a national takeover of education. The bill, while not mentioning Common Core, would allow the state to transition from the AIMS test to another as a high school graduation requirement. Representative Heather Carter and Laddie Shane of the Maricopa County Republican Party discuss the pros and cons of the issue.

Video - Arizona's high school graduation rate has jumped 24 percent over the past decade, the highest increase in the nation. Part of that growth can be attributed to a ten percent increase in the Latino graduation rate from 2005 to 2011. Bill Hart of ASU's Morrison Institute and Dr. Kent Scribner, Superintendent of the Phoenix Union High School District, will discuss what led to the increase.

Video - Passing the AIMS test should continue to be a high school graduation requirement according to newly released recommendations by the AIMS Task Force. The Chairman of the task force talks about the recommendations which include a new exam for eleventh graders that measures college and career readiness.

- The Arizona State Board of Education is considering a plan to increase the number of math and science credits required to earn a high school diploma. Its also considering a new rule that establishes a dual diploma system. The Board President and a Marana Unified School District official talk about the proposals.
