    • The Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s Director of International Strategy, Mary Foote Hebert, has been selected to attend the Annual Curators meeting with the World Economic Forum Community of Global Shapers held in Geneva, Switzerland. Hebert oversees the Phoenix hub that is focused on ways to put Phoenix on the map for obtaining young business talent. Hebert will discuss what she learned at the Global Shapers Forum.

  • Arizona Technology and Innovation: 2014 Innovation Arizona Summit  |   Video
    • The 2014 Innovation Arizona Summit takes place in Scottsdale August 14. The summit is a joint effort of the Arizona SciTech Festival, the MIT Enterprise Forum Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority. It will explore the lifecycle of innovation from inspiration to commercialization. The summit will also enable collaborators to network and engage in discussions about science, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. Jeremy Babendure, executive director of the Arizona SciTech Festival and Robert Green, CEO of EndoVantage, will discuss the innovation summit.

    • The Global Cities Initiative is a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase that aims to help metropolitan areas strengthen their international connections and competitiveness. The initiative recently held a forum in Phoenix. Curtis Reed, Jr., Market Manager for Arizona, Chase, spoke at the event and will tell us more about making the Phoenix area more competitive in the global market.

    • The Committee to Protect Journalists and Bloomberg News will host a public forum at the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication regarding attacks on journalism. One of the Panelists, former Washington Post Executive Editor and now ASU Professor Leonard Downie Jr., will talk about the attacks, which come from sources such as the Obama Administration’s war on leaks and NSA surveillance.

    • The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Arizona State University will hold a forum on “optimal aging.” Six speakers will present information on the latest research on the topic. Richard Knopf, director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in the ASU College of Public programs, will talk about the event and optimal aging.

    • Following the discovery of 6,000 uninvestigated child abuse cases, hundreds of people showed up at a forum in Phoenix Tuesday to talk about problems with Child Protective Services. The forum was spearheaded by the Children’s Action Alliance, and Beth Rosenberg, the director of Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice Policy for the Alliance, will discuss what people talked about at the forum.

  • Arizona Stand Your Ground Law  |   Video
    • A forum will be held Saturday, November 23 at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law on Arizona’s Stand Your Ground Law. The law came into focus in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida. State Representatives John Kavanagh and Martin Quezada will discuss the future of Arizona’s Stand Your Ground Law at the forum, and will debate the law on Arizona Horizon.

    • The Rodel Foundation of Arizona, which is committed to helping create a world-class system of public schools in Arizona, is hosting an education forum to foster a conversation about better education. Jackie Norton, President & CEO of the Rodel Foundation will share details.
