    • The Export-Import Bank of the United States provides loans and loan guarantees to businesses when other financing is not available. The bank’s charter will lapse on September 30 unless Congress acts. Business groups are concerned about the possible demise of the bank. Dennis Hoffman, director of the L. William Seidman Research Institute at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, will talk about what the bank does and its importance.

  • Clean Elections Ruling Impact  |   Video
    • The United States Supreme Court ruled that the matching funds provision of Arizona’s Clean Elections public campaign financing system is unconstitutional. That means publicly-funded candidates will no longer get extra public money to match spending by privately-financed candidates. Political analysts Bob Grossfeld of the Media Guys and Stan Barnes of Copper State Consulting Group talk about the decision will change Arizona’s political landscape.

    • The U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit challenging Arizona's tuition tax credit program. The high court ruled that the program involves private money going to private organizations. Opponents argued that the law involved government financing for religious activities. ASU law professor Paul Bender, who represented the challengers, discusses the ruling.

    • A federal judge declared unconstitutional the “matching funds provision” of Arizona’s public campaign financing program, known as Clean Elections. The decision was appealed to the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which heard oral arguments on Monday.
