- Environmental Plan for Navajo Generating Station | Video
- The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new rules that will require owners of the Navajo Generating Station to pay $1.1 billion dollars to limit emissions from the plant. Owners of the plant say if approved, that will force them to shut down the power plant. Much of the electricity from the plant is used to pump water uphill in the Central Arizona Project Canal. A technical working group has come up with an alternative plan, and the CAP is asking members of the public to contact the EPA by January 6 to support their plan. The layer of visible particulates that blankets the skyline during the winter season will surely be back. Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Director Steve Owens joins Horizon to talk about the region’s air quality as wells as ways to reduce particulate matter-producing emissions.
