October 31, 2007- Career Ladder Lawsuit
- Career Ladder is Arizonas performance-based pay program for teachers. Twenty-eight Arizona school districts participate in the program while more than 200 others do not. They couldnt participate if they wanted to because the State legislature hasnt approved new Career Ladder funding since 1994. Gilbert Public Schools, a nonparticipating district, has filed a lawsuit claiming the program violates the State Constitutions general and uniform requirement for public education. A Gilbert Public Schools representative and the President of the Arizona Education Association discuss the lawsuit.

June 12, 2007- County Island Fire Coverage
- County island areas in the town of Gilbert have been at the center of controversy regarding the fire coverage. A bill that allows non-touching county islands to form fire districts was recently passed by the legislature and allowed by the Governor to go into law without her signature. The law would require the surrounding municipality to provide fire and emergency services for a fee if the district doesn't have a private provider or a service agreement.
