  • APS Solar Power Charges  |   Video
    • Arizona Public Service released a plan recently to charge residential customers who install solar panels $50 to $100 more a month. The utility says the charges are needed to maintain the electricity grid, but the move is facing lots of opposition, including a vote by the Cave Creek town council to oppose the plan. Barbara Lockwood, General Manager of Energy Innovation for APS, will discuss the plan.

  • Cave Creek Solar Power Vote  |   Video
    • The town of Cave Creek is the first Arizona town or city to officially oppose rate hikes for solar power users being proposed by Arizona Public Service. The town unanimously voted to oppose the rate hikes, saying that it could hurt the installation of solar power in homes and hurt the economy. Cave Creek Councilman Ernie Bunch will talk about the vote.

    • You can find fresh goat milk fudge and fresh goat cheese at the Fossil Creek Creamery in Strawberry, Ariz. Llamas guard a herd of dairy goats. Visitors learn how the goat milk products are made; then they play with the goats, help with milking, feed them and assist with farm work.

    • English-speaking students in grades 1-5 at Desert Willow School in Cave Creek learn about math, science and social studies, but all of their instruction is in Spanish. The school was recently awarded a half-million dollar federal grant for its Spanish Immersion program.

    • The Cave Creek Complex fire has grown to over 150,000 acres. There are seven other wildfires burning in our state right now of 100 acres or more. Kirk Rowdabaugh of the State Land Department offers an update on the fire situation.
