On the eve of the start of the high school football season in Arizona, new regulations are being implemented limiting full contact during football practice. Also, a new video game aimed at educating young people about concussions is being released. Concussion expert Dr. Javier Cardenas of the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Josephâ€™s hospital and Dr. Tamara McLeod from A.T. Still University will discuss efforts to cut down on concussions among high school athletes.
Arizona State University quarterback Steven Threet is calling it quits because of multiple concussions. Dr. David Dodick of the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale is a nationally recognized expert on concussions, and will discuss the injury that is common to athletes in some sports.
On August 6 athletes from around the world will compete in the annual Jewish Olympics known as the Maccabi Games right here in the Valley. Mark Shore, president and CEO of the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, will join Michael Grant to talk about the games’ impact on Arizona's economy.
