An effort is underway to connect schools’ STEM programs in a community of practice, which will allow the schools to share best practices, leverage opportunities and collaborate to progress STEM education in Arizona. Communities of practice are used with effectiveness in workplaces. Jeremy Babendure, executive director of the Arizona SciTech Festival, will discuss the effort, along with Janet McConnell, an instructional developer and designer for Intel. Babendure will also briefly discuss the ongoing SciTech Festival.
The Innovation Arizona Summit is an event where the lifecycle of innovation, from idea to commercialization, is explored. Arizona SciTech and the Arizona Commerce Authority host the event, which will feature 20 sessions, 50 exhibitors and 1,000 attendees, all there to learn and teach about technology and getting it to market. The Arizona SciTech Festival has grown into Arizona’s largest event featuring science, technology and innovation with over 800 events in 45 cities and towns. The 2014 Innovation Arizona Summit takes place in Scottsdale August 14. The summit is a joint effort of the Arizona SciTech Festival, the MIT Enterprise Forum Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority. It will explore the lifecycle of innovation from inspiration to commercialization. The summit will also enable collaborators to network and engage in discussions about science, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. Jeremy Babendure, executive director of the Arizona SciTech Festival and Robert Green, CEO of EndoVantage, will discuss the innovation summit.
Hundreds of the state’s business, science and education leaders will gather in Scottsdale for the Second Annual Arizona SciTech Festival Kickoff Conference on September 4. The conference will include 16 panel discussions, a keynote address and roughly 50 interactive stations to help those participating in the 2014 Arizona SciTech Festival make the most of their planning. Jeremy Babendure, Executive Director of the Arizona SciTech Festival, and Jeanine Jerkovic, Glendale’s Economic Development Administrator, will discuss the conference and the SciTech Festival.
Arizona State University’s College of Technology and Innovation is hosting a Science & Engineering Festival on February 22, with a day full of activities that will celebrate the power of the Science and Engineering field. This event is being held in collaboration with the 2013 Arizona SciTech Festival.

The Arizona SciTech Festival has over 250 events statewide. One upcoming event takes a look at the science of baseball. Arizona State University Psychology Professor Michael McBeath will talk about the SciTech event, “Spring Training Festival: The Mad Science of Baseball.”
The Arizona SciTech Festival is underway, with over 200 events throughout the state. Scheduled for February 18th at Arizona State University is the Maker Faire, an event filled with student and community project demonstrations, do-it-yourself activities and workshops and the Duel in the Desert scrimmage for FIRST Robotics. Dr. Chell Roberts, Executive Dean of ASU College of Tech and Innovation, will discuss the Maker Faire.
Planning is underway for an Arizona Science and Technology Festival next year. The plan is to rival the best science festivals in the nation. Jeremy Babendure, director of the Arizona SCITECH Festival, and Steve Zylstra of the Arizona Technology Council Foundation will discuss the festival.
