    • Veterans returning from war sometimes do not return alone. They may be accompanied by post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries. Soldier’s Best Friend is a Glendale-based organization that pairs up service or therapeutic companion dogs with soldiers suffering the impacts of war. Most dogs are rescued from local shelters. We’ll take a look at veterans who are benefiting from service dogs provided by Soldier’s Best Friend.

Innovation America brings together a bipartisan group of governors and members of the academic and business communities to support private sector innovation and strengthen the competitive position of the United States in the global economy.

    • Fewer U.S. military bases are likely to be affected by the new round of base realignment and closures. The list of affected bases is expected to be made public as early as tomorrow, but no later than a week from today. Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld says the percent of affected bases would be less than half the 25\% originally targeted. Producer Larry Lemmons tells us of the potential impact a base closure could have in the west valley.
  • Arizona Stories: Bead Museum
    • Beads can be a window into human culture. That's the emphasis of the only museum in the world dedicated strictly to beads. It's located in downtown Glendale. Producer Mike Sauceda and videographer Richard Torruellas take us on a video tour of the "bead museum."

    • A predominantly partisan battle has been waged in the state legislature this session over the issue of immigration. Supporters of immigration legislation say the Valley's quality of life is being threatened. Opponents say legislation targeting illegal immigrants will divide communities. Add that to the controversy over the minutemen on the border recently, and it's clear immigration is a growing concern for Arizonans.
  • Joel Kotkin
    • In this month's issue of Inc. magazine, Phoenix is rated the 16th best place in the country to do business. The city jumped up from 28th last year. The article is written by LA-based author Joel Kotkin, whose recent book, The City: A global history, explores the evolution of cities from the birth of civilization.
  • Arizona Stories: Arizona Falls
    • When crews building the Arizona canal in the 1880s reached the area south of Camelback Mountain, they found a ridge of hard rock in their way. Instead of blasting it with dynamite, they let the water flow over it. Arizona falls began as a cool escape from the heat in Phoenix that eventually came to be used in some very different ways.
