 Video - The Technology Based Learning and Research Center in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University announced a revolutionary mobile software tool developed along with Massively Parallel Technologies Inc. The tool is focused on optimizing a mobile eye-tracking application for smartphones and tablets using MPT’s Blue Cheetah software. TBLR’s Visual Engagement Mapping mobile application employs real-time eye tracking, a method used to ascertain students’ level of attention during an online lesson. Kevin Howard of Massively Parallel Technologies will talk about the new software.
May 8, 2013- AZ Technology & Innovation: Athena Wireless | Video
- Athena Wireless is a manufacturer of high capacity wireless connectivity systems that give fiber-like speeds without the fiber. The company’s radio systems are about the size and shape of a stereo speaker. Athena Wireless is the first company to be born at the AZ TechCelerator incubator in Surprise, and is currently located in the city. It was founded by Eduardo Tinoco and Terry McManus. Tinoco will talk about his company’s innovative wireless connection system.

- Perry Waxman is just 18 and still in high school in Phoenix, but is already a member of Apple's Developer Network. He’s created two successful apps after teaching himself how to code. Waxman will talk about his apps and his future.
April 10, 2013- AZ Technology & Innovation: Intel International Science and Engineering Fair | Video
- The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair will be held May 12-17 at the Phoenix Convention Center, with aspiring scientists from all over the world competing. Renee Levin, Intel’s community engagement manager, will talk about the fair. Sarah Sakha, a student from Xavier High School, will talk about her winning project, which seeks to develop emergency food products used in famine relief.

- A California company that produces Wi-fi video networking for whole-home entertainment is expanding to Arizona. Quantenna Communications will open a research and development facility in Tempe, bringing 12 engineering and management jobs to the Valley initially, a number expected to triple over the next few years. Quantenna Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sam Heidari will talk about his company and its expansion to Tempe.

- In the television series “Star Trek,” the character Spock used a “tricorder” to take measurements after being transported to a planet. A University of Arizona researcher, Dr. Peter Jansen, has developed a working tricorder. His model can measure temperature, humidity, magnetic fields, atmospheric pressure, ambient light levels, distances, and contains a colorimeter, GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope. It is also open-sourced, with plans available for anyone to build one.
August 22, 2012- Tech & Innovation: Hardened Computer Chips | Video
- Tucson-area company Ridgetop has won two $1 million contracts from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop special computer chips hardened by radioactivity. The analog-to-digital signal processor chips will be used in particle accelerators. Doug Goodman, Ridgetop’s Founder and CEO, will discuss his company’s chips.

- President Barack Obama recently signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which allows for the establishment of six testing sites for drones to be used in commercial applications and by the government for other than military use. Arizona is competing to be one of those test sites. Retired Gen. John Regni, a technical adviser with the Arizona Commerce Authority, will discuss the effort.

- The Mayo Clinic is in the midst of adding a new weapon to its cancer-fighting tools. Mayo broke ground in December for a facility to house a Proton Beam Therapy Program, which it says will mark a new era in cancer treatment.
